Amanza Smith Is ‘Getting Stronger’ After 23 Days In The Hospital
“Selling Sunset” star Amanza Smith is “getting stronger.”
After two surgeries and 23 days and counting in the hospital, she’s looking forward to going home soon.
Amanza Smith Gave A Promising Update On Social Media
Smith has been updating her social media followers throughout her health journey. She recently took to Instagram to share another update that has some promising news.
“Getting stronger and can walk with a walker to the restroom and around the room a bit when my pain meds are allowing me to do so. Once we just get this pain under control I can possibly go home,” she wrote in an Instagram post caption.
“Pray that this last scan is clear and this girl can possibly go home soon. Day 23 and ready to get out of here. Thank you for all the continued thoughts and prayers.♥️♥️♥️♥️❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽”
The update was the caption to a video showing clips of Smith going in for another scan, walking with the help of a walker and resting in her hospital bed. See video HERE.
Many of her followers left her supportive messages in the comment section.
“You are so beautiful inside and out. Stay hopeful and positive! You are SUCH a light and one of my favorites to watch grow and develop on Selling Sunset. You are a kind hearted human! Keep it up, you’ve already encouraged so many people in this world ☀️,” one person wrote.
Another added, “Sending prayers and hugs to you! You are so strong and an inspiration to all of us! You got this chica!❤️❤️❤️”
A few days ago, she gave a video update marking day 20 in the hospital.
“I’ve had about 45 minutes of sleep. Currently propped up on 8 million pillows. Spine surgery sucks,” she said. “I’m ready to heal from my house. I’m over it.”
Amanza Smith Had Two Surgeries While In The Hospital
The realtor and reality star was experiencing extreme back pain when she was admitted into the hospital to treat a blood infection that spread to the bones of her spine. While the IV antibiotics cleared up the infection in her blood, surgery became necessary to treat the infection that spread to her spine.
After the first surgery, a second, riskier surgery was required.
“The first surgery went well. The first surgery was basically just to clean the infection out of the bottom of my spine. And it wasn’t as serious of a surgery as this next one is going to be. I still had a portion of infection on some upper regions of my spine that actually deteriorated my bone to about one-quarter,” she said in an Instagram Story.
“Now, about one-quarter of the bone is left and it’s starting to seep into another one of my vertebrae, so the fear and potential risk of losing more bone by waiting and seeing if the penetration of the antibiotics would finally work is something that is quite risky.”
The second surgery will take more time to recover from than the first – about three to four months.
When one of Smith’s followers asked in the comments of one of her updates if she knows what caused the blood infection, she responded, “They have no idea. It’s a unique case. The important thing that they check right away was that it was not coming from my heart, they did an echocardiogram and also a transesophageal echocardiogram to rule that out and my heart looked perfect and healthy.”
