Encanto's Bruno Turned Into Scar From Lion King In Perfect Disney Art

In recently shared fan art, Encanto‘s Bruno has been turned into Scar from the Disney animated classic The Lion King. Encanto was released in 2021 and while it did not fare well at the pandemic-restricted box office, the fantasy film was a hit in its subsequent release on Disney+ with the film being re-watched over 180 million times as of March. The family-friendly musical focuses on Mirabel Madrigal, a powerless member of a magical family that lives in a sentient house in the middle of a Colombian jungle. Each member of the family is granted powers on their fifth birthday with the exception of Mirablel.

Although Mirabel feels as if she is an outcast due to her lack of special abilities, one family member, her uncle Bruno Madrigal, was shunned and cast out by the family entirely following his negative visions of the future. However, it is later revealed that Bruno was living within the walls of the house with a friend group consisting of loyal rats. Mirabel’s uncle yearned to be a part of the family once again but stayed away in an effort to protect them from his visions.

In fan art created by digital artist Valeria Kryuchkova (@Sumali_art), Bruno from Encanto was re-imagined as Scar from The Lion King. The artist shared two images that successfully combined Bruno’s sullen visage with that of Mufasa’s evil lion brother. Check out the extraordinary images below.

The transformation of Bruno to Scar is brilliant and logical. The similarities between the two characters are striking. Both have long black hair framing their long faces and deep dark eyes. Bruno’s magic emits a strong green light which casts him in a green aura. This is reminiscent of a famous scene in The Lion King which had Scar sing his villainous song “Be Prepared” as he was bathed in a green light for a moment, transforming his pupils into the same emerald shade. Also, the digital artist used Bruno’s love of his rats to pay homage to an early scene in The Lion King in which Scar had a mouse run across his fingers while talking to a young Simba.

The comparison between the two characters is apt as they are both members of an esteemed family that have been shunned. Although the circumstances of their exiles are quite different, they were cast out nevertheless. Kryuchkova expertly highlights the similarities of the Encanto and The Lion King characters’ back stories as well as their aesthetics in this impressive perfect fan art.
