Pete Davidson Calls S.I. Ferry Purchase ‘Lifelong Problem For Me And Colin’

It sounded like a perfect comedic skit when Pete Davidson and Colin Jost announced they purchased a Staten Island Ferry last year. But this is no joke – they actually bought a Staten Island Ferry!

Davidson recently revealed their plans for the ferry he called “a lifelong problem for me and Colin” while on Seth and Josh Meyers podcast, “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers.”

When the topic of the odd purchase entered the chat, Davidson, 29, jokingly said what we’ve all been thinking, “That was real?” But then offered some very intriguing updates to the ferry saga.

“So, we just got all the plans built and we had them do one of those computer generated, show you what it could be type things and now we’re out to a few people and it seems like it’s all going well, but it’s definitely like five years away,” he told the Meyers brothers.

“We want to be able to dock it from April to September or maybe October in New York and it will be like a restaurant, it’ll be a concert venue, it’ll be a movie theater, upstairs like sort of a restaurant area and then there’s hotels. And in the winter, tug into Miami.”

The “Bupkis” star explained that Jost has taken the wheel on much of the planning and worrying about what’s next for the massive ferry boat.

“We’re in the hole. Colin called me like, ‘Hey, can you hop on this call about the ferry?’ I was like, ‘We’re still doing that thing?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, this is pretty serious,'” he explained.

“And it is, I had no idea, I just saw a link and sent the deposit and now I’m stuck with a f***ing boat. It’s really funny, dude.”

They jokingly named the boat the Titanic 2 on the LLC when the purchase went through, but they have plans to keep things the same as it’s been as they build their floating dream.

“It’s all going to stay the same,” he said. “The same outside, keep what we can and just repurpose, make sure it’s nice, but it will be the Staten Island Ferry.”

The “King of Staten Island” actor also explained that they bought the “biggest ferry” in the bunch.

“It’s substantially bigger than all the other ones,” he said. “I’m just glad it’s not like turned to scrap. It’s kind of funny that this will be a lifelong problem for me and Colin.”

Pete Davidson Joked About The Ferry Purchase Last Month

Just last month, Davidson joked about the ferry with ET’s Will Marfuggi, who asked if there will be an after-party on the boat.

“Yeah, if it’s not sunk!” Davidson joked. “I have no idea what’s going on with that thing. Me and Colin were very stoned a year ago and bought a ferry. And we’re figuring it out.”

Sounds like the perfect plot to a comedy, but the “Saturday Night Live” alum is serious about this off-the-wall purchase, that they reportedly paid $280,000 for.

Back in January 2022, Davidson appeared during a “Weekend Update” segment with Jost to announce their new floating venture.

“Hey! We bought a ferry, the windowless van of the sea,” Davidson joked in only a way he can. Jost sarcastically added, “Yes, it’s very exciting. We thought the whole thing through.”
