Romelu Lukaku dubbed ‘greatest heel in football history’ as Inter Milan move collapses

Romelu Lukaku has caused yet another stir after his behaviour saw Inter Milan pull out of a deal to sign the Chelsea striker.

Lukaku spent last year on loan at Inter and had been lined up for a permanent switch back to the San Siro this season with his career at Chelsea looking dead in the water.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, Inter were left furious and walked away from negotiations after learning that the Belgian striker had held talks with Juventus.

Oddly he opened talks despite a move to Turin less than straightforward with the Old Lady reportedly needing to sell Dusan Vlahovic before the proposed signing of Lukaku can be financially viable.

Lukaku’s latest behaviour has seen one fan on Twitter label him as “the greatest heel in football history,” in a reference to professional wrestling, where a wrestler portrays a villain and is the antagonist. Another added: “Deep it, his entire legacy is going to be based on p***ing off different fanbases.”

A third commented: “Icl (I can't lie), I’m impressed by the audacity, this saga went from annoying to hilarious real quick!” While a fourth wrote: “He better move to Saudi Arabia because Inter fans won’t forgive him for this and the UCL final.”

Who do you think Lukaku will play for next season? Let us know in the comments section.

“How can a player be this divisive, what’s wrong with this Lukaku guy for crying out loud!!!” A fifth questioned.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge in 2021 for £97.5million after breaking 20 league goals in two consecutive seasons at Inter Milan.

The 30-year-old had previously angered fans of his former club Everton after celebrating with a finger on his lips after scoring against them, he later infuriated Manchester United fans following poor displays and a plethora of lacklustre performances.

Similar problems plagued his solitary season at Stamford Bridge upon his return and fans later became furious following an ill-fated interview in December 2021 whilst in Italy where he revealed he was “not happy” at Chelsea.

And he’s now angered his fourth set of fans in Milan after casting eyes away from the Champions League runners up who will be playing in Europe’s elite competition again next season, unlike Chelsea and Juventus who both will play no European football this season.

A move to Saudi Arabia could still materialise, but it appears Juve are his only hope of returning to Italy now.
