Actress Salma Hayek is receiving backlash over a photo that she posted of her in the pool for National Bikini Day.
Although her 24 million Instagram followers usually love her bikini snaps, there were quite a few comments wondering if she was “too old” to wear a bikini at age 56! Fortunately, most fans not only love her steamy bikini snaps… they want her to keep sharing them!
Apparently, Not All Fans Think Salma Hayek Is The Reigning Bikini Queen Despite Her Steamy Pool Snap!
Although many celebrities were posting photos of themselves on Instagram in red, white, and blue bikinis to celebrate the Fourth of July, the “House of Gucci” actress waited one day later to start celebrating National Bikini Day, held annually on July 5! The Mexican-American actress ditched the red, white, and blue, and instead rocked a colorful vintage drawstring bikini that she paired with dangling gold earrings.
She stood in the middle of a pool as she smoldered for the camera, appearing to wear minimal, if any make-up. Salma is known for using no filter and very little, if any make-up, in her photos, and fans love seeing her natural beauty. In the caption, she wrote, “Happy #NationalBikiniDay! Can you believe the bikini has only been around for 77 years?! Let’s hope they don’t ban them too.” She made sure to specify that the photo was recent and “not a throwback” with a hashtag.
She also repeated her message in Spanish, asking, “¡Feliz #NationalBikiniDay! ¿Puedes creer que el bikini solo tiene 77 años de existencia?!” Although many fans gushed over her steamy snaps, there were some netizens who felt that the “Frida” star was getting a bit “too old” to wear a bikini!
Some Fans Think That Salma Is ‘Really Starting To Show’ Her Age
Although many fans loved the “Black Mirror” actress and her steamy pool snap, not everyone did. There were quite a few comments that said that she was “too old” to wear a bikini. One user even went as far as to write: “Really starting to show your age, Salma – you should have stopped wearing bikinis when you hit your 30s last year.”
Fortunately, fans were quick to come to her defense. “Well, she’s allowed to do whatever she wants. Plus, she looks great,” one fan clapped back. “Bro… what?? I dare you to look this good at almost 60 years old,” another follower shared. “You have to be joking, right? She’s literally perfect for her age,” another fan replied. Some users expressed hope that it was only a joke, as the 56-year-old actress didn’t turn 30 last year!

Salma Hayek Finds Her Swimsuit Snaps To Be ‘Liberating’
In 2021, the “Grown Ups” actress told Entertainment Tonight that she has saved bikini photos on her phone to share on her Instagram page throughout the year.
“I saved my pictures. I’m not in the same condition today and I’m spreading the love out like every two weeks,” she said at the time. “People are sick of it but I’m going to let them take a break. They’re going to think I’m wearing a swimsuit every day. No, they’re all from the same location.”
However, she added that she finds it “liberating” to take bikini photos, adding, “I’m glad I took a lot of pictures. I have no shame in it.”
In a February 2023 interview with Glamour, Salma embraced her age and the opportunities she is still receiving as an actress. “I thought getting older meant I wasn’t going to work; I’m working,” she said. “I thought getting older maybe meant that you’re not in love anymore; I’m in love. I don’t feel that I lost my flexibility or my agility or even my strength. I do have to say that I have found it beautiful, getting older with someone.”
