“I’ve been doing television for nearly 25 years, and I’ve always done it my way, where whatever I think is what I say.

“I’m always respectful to everyone, so whatever I’ve got to say, maybe I say it in a non-political way, but everyone knows I mean well – I don’t mean it with maliciousness.

He added: “I never wanted to be on television. I was discovered by a producer as I was cooking, and he asked me to be on television and that’s how it happened.

“I’m living someone else’s dream. I do it because I enjoy it and I like watching television, but I don’t really have any ambition to do more, not on TV.

“Family Fortunes is probably one of my favourite shows to do, because I’ve been watching it for tire last 30 years. When I first came to tire UK from Italy, I was watching Only Fools And Horses and Family Fortunes as a way to learn the English language – it’s a fantastic way to learn.”
