Honey Boo Boo’s Dad, Sugar Bear, Entering Rehab With Big Celeb Help
Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson is turning to Lamar Odom for her on his sobriety journey. He may be attending one of the ex-baller’s rehab facilities.
Sugar Bear Reached Out To Lamar Odom
Sources are letting it spill that the former reality TV star is seeking the help of a rehab facility for a drug addiction he has been battling for an undisclosed amount of time. He contacted Odom over the weekend about going to one of his treatment centers.
He will reportedly check into a Kansas rehab location on Thursday to begin his detox. Sugar Bear is reportedly addicted to prescription pain medications given to him to help control his diabetes.
Sugar Bear and Odom reportedly met last summer via their managers and have established a rapport with one another. Because of this friendship, Oldham extended help to Sugar Bear, and he has been at his gold bridge treatment center in Louisburg.
Odom Recovery Group Has Him Now
Thankfully for the former reality TV star Odom and his team are taking the reins and helping him to complete a rehab program. Upon completing this program, Sugar Bear, absent from his daughter Alana Thompson’s life for the last several years, hopes to mend the relationship.
He hasn’t specifically said that the drugs were the problem with their family dynamics, but let’s face it, who wants to be in their child’s life when they have an addiction to battle? At one point, the here comes Honey Boo Boo star seemed to be on the up and up. He showed off new teeth that he had gotten. He had beat cancer.
Overall, life for Sugar Bear seemed to be on the up and up, so this rehab stint is a bit of a shock to people who have followed the family. Seeing a Sugar Bear always seemed like the one who was a little calmer compared to his larger-than-life ex-wife June Shannon.
Lamar Odom Dedicated To Helping
As for Odom, this is not the first, nor the last, time he ticks his neck out to help somebody in their recovery journey. The former professional basketball player struggled with substance abuse over the years.
He has managed to get clean and stay clean, and now he seems to deduce his life to helping others get clean. Sugar Bear is not the only person that Odom has benefited in recent weeks; in June, he helped another former reality star Bam Margera get himself into a rehab facility to start hopefully getting clean.
This has proven to be a bit more challenging as the former professional skateboarder reportedly left the facility during detox. It has not returned since. While Odom is confident that he plans to get Margera back on the right path, his focus is now on Sugar Bear.
The Shannon Family Has Had A Hard Time
While the family is no stranger to sharing their business on TV, they have gone through some serious struggles that few would want to share with the world on WeTV’s Mama June. From Not To Hot, Shannon is battling to have her kids back in her life after she struggles with addiction jailing her ex-boyfriend Gino Doan and allegedly abandoning her kids.
Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell, Honey Boo boo’s oldest sister, is battling cancer. While she’s brave in sharing some of her struggles on social media, it’s just another blow to the family. Hopefully, with Sugar Bear getting help Alana will eventually have a relationship with her dad again, and this family can go back to at least being cordial with one another.
