Sofia Vergara Divorce: Documents Reveal Couple Officially Split 2 Weeks Ago
Sofia Vergara’s husband, Joe Manganiello, has pulled the plug on the couple’s marriage — claiming they officially split only two weeks ago.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the famous actor filed for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County Courts citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
Surprisingly, Manganiello says the famous couple only separated on July 2, 2023. Normally, a public announcement of a break-up follows months or even years of back and forth before deciding to end a marriage. In this case, the date appears to coincide with the news of their breakup leaking to the media.
In the filing, Joe claims the former couple has a prenuptial agreement in place and any spousal support will be guided by that document. Child support is not an issue in this case, because the two don’t share any minor children.

As for the couple’s property and assets, Joe says he wants to keep his “earnings and accumulations before marriage, during marriage, and from and after the date of separation.” Apparently, the prenup spells out who owns what in the family.
The famous couple announced their breakup on social media, issuing a statement saying, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for the respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
A source added, “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
The former couple hasn’t gone public with what issues might have blown up their marriage, but there is a story being reported about Vergara’s partying habits. According to several news outlets, Joe is sober after suffering from an alcohol addiction in his 20s. But, Vergara enjoys casually drinking and it has been hard for her husband to deal with it.

“Sofia and Joe had a good run and managed to last longer than some within her friend circle suspected. One factor was absolutely their differing take on partying and enjoying a cocktail,” one outlet wrote.
Adding, “Sofia really enjoys cocktails and drinks with girlfriends. It is one of the ways she lets her hair down. She has always been like that. She goes out to meet up with people at their homes and also hosts little soirees at her place. For Joe, that has become increasingly tough in recent years.”
Sofia has yet to respond to the divorce.
