A career as one of the world's top boxers has seen Tyson Fury blessed with at least a modicum of luck – but his family has also been cursed by misfortune.

That's according to the WBC world heavyweight champion, who revealed his mother was once the recipient of a premonition that said one of her children would 'die in water'. And perhaps scariest of all is the Gypsy King's claim that all other details of said fortune have come to pass.

Fury and wife Paris are enjoying a romantic getaway to Cannes in the seventh episode of At Home With the Furys – which airs on Netflix from August 16 – when the fortune comes to light. The loved-up pair are lounging on a luxury boat when Paris attempts to convince her beau to go jet-skiing, but the boxing superstar is having none of it.

It's then that Fury, 34, informs the audience exactly why he's "not a big fan of water," proving the undefeated king of the ring believes in at least some superstition.

"Years and years ago when we were little kids, my mother went to see a fortune teller," said Fury, who is set to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou on October 28. "This fortune teller told her a lot of things. So the only thing that didn't come true in the family was she said one of your offspring's gonna die in water.

"And even til today, every holiday that I go on, either me dad, me mum or someone will phone me and say, 'Watch them children, watch the water. Remember what the fortune teller said.' Everything else came true."

Fury has previously been seen enjoying a dip in the sea without the element of risk. In February 2021, he braved the glacial three-degrees temperatures of Morecambe Bay.

The Gypsy King posted a short clip on Instagram wearing nothing but red shorts as he jumped into the freezing cold sea for a recovery session. Having screamed initially, he was encouraged to swim by wife Paris but chose to ignore her request by quickly returning to shore.
