Top 20 embarrassing things dads do on holiday – like telling bad jokes, and dad dancing
The most embarrassing things dads do on holiday that leave their teenagers red-faced include dad-dancing, being greedy at the buffet – and snoring by the pool, research has found.
Telling bad jokes topped the list of fatherly faux-pas – while complaining loudly, and comparing prices to back home, are other things that leave teens cringing.
In fact, a poll of 1,000 teenagers found that 54% have been embarrassed by their dad during a family holiday – and almost half (43%) can't recall a vacation without a dad-related moment of humiliation.
Telling embarrassing anecdotes, having loud conversations with strangers, and wearing socks with sandals, also made the top 20 “cringe list”.
And a quarter of teens (24%) have tried to get out of going on holiday with their parents, just to avoid being embarrassed by their dads.
The research was commissioned by easyJet Holidays, to launch its new in-hotel “Dad's Club”, in Spanish hotspot, Benalmádena.
Taking place on August 24th and 25th, at Holiday World Polynesia on the Costa del Sol, the club hopes to provide some cringe-free respite for teens – as well as a safe space for gaffe-prone dads to connect with their kind, without being judged.
