Bruno Guimaraes lashes out at Newcastle fan with ‘stupid, short memory’ then deletes post

Bruno Guimaraes lashed out at a Newcastle United fan account following the Magpies’ 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday (August 19).

Eddie Howe’s side were unable to follow up their 5-1 opening day hammering of Aston Villa after they were defeated at the Etihad in the Toon’s second game of the campaign.

And while the majority of Newcastle fans reframed from criticising Guimaraes and Eddie Howe’s team for the defeat just a week after the 5-1 victory, Magpies’ fan account @nufc360 riled the Geordie fanbase and even the Brazilian himself.

The account, which has 140,000 followers, posted a picture of Guimaraes alongside team-mates Joelinton, Dan Burn and Miguel Almiron, and asked: “Is it too early in the season to start focusing blame onto individual players? Was there an overreaction to the loss to Man City?”

Guimaraes spotted the tweet and furiously hit back, captioning the post with a sick emoji before tweeting: “Is this serious?

“We are in Champions League football we lost against maybe one of the best teams in the world and we have a big win and lost one game!

“Support in the best moment is easy! Short stupid memories you all have look what we have done for the team this 1 year and half.”

Newcastle fans – how do you think Bruno Guimaraes played in the defeat against Man City? Let us know in the comments section.

They wrote: “We are with you @brunoog97, this post was a way to try and focus on the craziness of those trying to find players to blame after two games. I’m sorry if this was not expressed on that manner. NUFC360 is behind all of our players.”

After the loss away at the home of the league champions, Guimaraes tweeted: “A tough match against one of the best teams in the world today, we know we can do much better and we will work to meet the expectations this season.”
