Sophia Bush Refuses To Pay Spousal Support In Bitter Divorce
Sophia Bush is asking a judge to order NO spousal support to be paid by either party in her divorce.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the ‘One Tree Hill’ actress claims she had a prenuptial agreement with her ex-husband Grant Hughes and it states she doesn’t have to pay spousal support.
In the filing, Sophia points out that the former couple was only married for just over one year before separating on June 27, 2023. She is asking the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party. Now, it should be noted that even if they did order support, it would depend on who makes more money out of the two of them.
Sophia Bush Claims She Has A Prenuptial Agreement With Grant Hughes
The actress claims the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, saying in the documents, “The exact nature and extent of the separate property assets and debts of the parties is unknown at this time. However, each party shall be awarded his/her respective separate property assets and debts pursuant to the terms of the agreement signed by the parties prior to their marriage.” Plus, she wants them to split the attorney fees.
In other words, she gets hers and he gets his.
In this case, child support is off the table since the former couple has no children.
Sophia Bush & Grant Hughes Celebrate 1-Year Anniversary Just 2 Weeks Before Breakup
Neither Bush nor Hughes has publicly commented on their split, but Bush did share a message about trust on social media this week. “Sometimes you have to remind yourself that you’re something special,” the quote began. Adding, “That you can’t be replaced. Your heart, your mind, your conversation, your care, it can’t be replaced. By anyone.”
As you can imagine, the breakup came as a huge surprise to fans after the duo was only married for one year. Interestingly, Bush addressed the couple’s one-year anniversary by gushing over her husband, saying, “Today marks 365 days of calling you ‘husband. Best decision of my life. It still feels just like this. Ecstatic. Running toward the future, grinning and laughing, together. I love you, my favorite. Happy Anniversary.”
Hughes responded, “Happy 1st Anniversary, my love! ❤️🥂 What a full, beautiful, dynamic, exciting, growth-filled year we’ve had together,” he captioned a carousel of Instagram snaps from their time together. “I truly love doing life with you!” Adding, “As the card I gave you this morning said: ‘There are seven billion people on this planet. You are my favorite.’” Bush replied in the comments, telling her then-spouse, “Multitudes my babe.”
Shockingly, the couple was broken up only two weeks later.
Now, Hughes must respond to the divorce in court. Time to call the lawyers.
