Ryan Gravenberch is pushing for a move to Liverpool before the transfer deadline.

The Dutch midfielder wants to switch to Anfield and leave Bayern Munich after just one season in Germany.

The clubs have been in discussions over a move since the Reds’ failed £110m bid for Moises Caicedo.

Gravenberch, 21, has grown frustrated over a lack of playing time at Bayern while the German club are willing to now sell to help finance a move for a No6.

The Dutchman was of interest to Manchester United but any move there has been ruled out owing to Erik ten Hag’s club needing to jump through FFP hoops to get players in and only a loan was possible.

Gravenberch starred under Ten Hag while at Ajax before he left for Bayern in a £15.5m deal last summer.

Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo in a midfield rebuild.

But after losing Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, Jurgen Klopp is keen to add more numbers.

Liverpool have been monitoring Gravenberch for some time and were interested last summer but it was clear he was heading for Germany.

United were in pole position at one point but have switched their target to Sofyan Amrabat.

That has left the path clear for Liverpool to now strike a deal but there is no agreement close on a fee.

Bayern will want more than what they paid for Gravenberch and believe he’s a more valuable asset now. They’re also aware that Liverpool were ready to break the British transfer record to sign Caicedo.

Gravenberch is not a defensive midfielder but would give the Reds another option in the middle of the park.
