The film garnered 16 million views in its first five days streaming, making it the most successful Disney movie premiere on Disney+ since Hocus Pocus 2.
The impressive streaming numbers aren’t so surprising given how popular the film was in theaters. The Little Mermaid earned almost $300 million and became one of the top five highest-grossing films of the summer domestically.
The Disney movie is also among 2023’s top ten films worldwide, earning $570 million at the global box office.
During a recent interview, Halle’s hairstylist for the movie, Camille Friend, opened up about the process of creating the gorgeous look for the role.
