BTS Reveal They Are Going Through A ‘Rough Patch’ As They Announce Hiatus To Focus On Solo Music Careers

Korean pop group BTS just revealed their intention to go on a break to pursue their various solo careers. The group came together under Big Hit Entertainment as far back as 2010, with Jungkook as the last addition to BTS.

Since their debut, they’ve gone on to win several awards and nominations. Their recently released project, “Proof,” is a curated collection of the group’s hit singles over the years and fan favorites like “Boy With Luv” with Halsey and other titles.

According to the released video, the members of the loved group want to take some time off to mature independently and focus on their personal growth and careers. While they didn’t make any mention of when they would return, they promised to regroup “someday.”

BTS Is Taking Some Time Off

Famous K-pop group BTS which includes RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, recently announced that they were taking a break to focus on their solo careers. The news was announced via a video posted on their social media page during their FESTA dinner. This is a celebration held on June 13 to commemorate the band’s debut in 2013.

In the video, Jungkook, the youngest in the group, said, “We’re each going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things. We promise we will return someday, even more mature than we are now.

According to the band lead rapper RM, they were all proud of their achievements as a team but wanted to grow as individuals. This is the group’s third time going on a hiatus; the first time was in 2019, then again in 2021. The K pop stars didn’t mention how long this break would last.

BTS Said They’re Going Through A ‘Rough Patch’

Further on in the video, according to NME’s translation, RM revealed that the members all had the desire to mature independently and explore solo projects. He said, “I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature. You have to keep producing music and keep doing something.

Jimin mentioned that the band always had their fans at the forefront of their minds, but they were currently trying to find themselves. “We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans.”

He continued, “I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans. I think that’s why we’re going through a rough patch right now, we’re trying to find our identity, and that’s an exhausting and long process.”

BTS Released ‘Proof’ On June 10

On June 10, BTS released “Proof,” an anthology album that had a collection of the group’s hit singles and several fan-favorite tracks. The 48-track compilation album also included unreleased songs, demos, and the lead single, “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment).”

The music video of the song was released not long after and showed Jungkook sitting down alone in a desert while watching a vast open land. The video then cuts to the group sitting together while they perform “Yet To Come” and look back at their almost decade-long career.

Besides their extensive discography as a group, all seven members have previously released solo music projects. Jungkook recently released a new track called “My You,” which was dedicated to fans of the group who dubbed themselves “ARMY.” J-Hope was also recently announced as part of the headliners for the 2022 Lollapalooza in Chicago. He is the first South Korean artist to achieve this feat at a major US music festival.

BTS Debuted In 2013

BTS started performing as a group in 2010 after Bang Si-hyuk, the founder of Big Hit Entertainment, recruited them. Since they officially debuted in 2013, the K-pop group has gotten two Grammy nominations, several number 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and many other accomplishments.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2021, Jimin revealed that he had never quite thought of not being a part of the group and wanted to keep it going “as long as I possibly can.” “I don’t think I’ve ever really thought of being not a part of this group,” he said.
