ABC Sets Fall Premiere Dates For Grey's Anatomy, The Conners & More

ABC has announced premiere dates for its scripted fall 2022 lineup, which includes fan favorite shows like Grey’s AnatomyThe ConnorsAbbott Elementary, and more. Though broadcast television has struggled in recent years, ABC still holds plenty of reliable performers. In addition to boasting the longest-running medical drama of all time (Grey’s Anatomy), the network welcomed the premiere of this year’s most successful broadcast comedy, the mockumentary Abbott Elementary. Created by Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary has swiftly become one of the biggest new shows of 2022.

ABC’s fall 2022 lineup consists of new and returning shows, with the latter camp featuring Grey’s Anatomy as it makes new records with its upcoming season 19. The shows making their series premieres are Alaska Daily starring Oscar winner Hilary Swank and The Rookie: Feds, a spinoff of The Rookie that stars Niecy Nash and Frankie Faison. Also armed with hit returning comedies like The Conners and The Goldbergs, ABC appears set for an eventful fall.

According to TVLine, most ABC shows will return in late September and early October. It begins with The ConnorsThe GoldbergsAbbott Elementary, Home Economics, and Big Sky all premiering on Wednesday, September 21. The Rookie will premiere Sunday, September 25, though its spinoff The Rookie: Feds will set up shop on another night: Tuesday, September 27.

The following week, The Good Doctor will return on Monday, October 3, and finally, Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, and Alaska Daily will premiere on Thursday, October 6. Shows like A Million Little ThingsNot Dead Yet, and The Wonder Years are being held for the midseason. Other details like episode counts and dark weeks will vary from show to show, and remain up in the air for most. The other two major networks, NBC and CBS, have yet to reveal their fall lineup schedules, but the announcement will likely arrive in the coming days to give all four networks a complete idea of what the 2022 fall landscape will look like.

Though ABC is not the powerhouse it once was, with all four networks losing viewers to the rise of streaming and premium content, it still has a steady supply of programming that appeals to a variety of fanbases, from medical dramas to family sitcoms. After a string of cancellations from ABC that includes Queens and Promised Land, it’s good to see how many of the network’s popular shows are returning. Plus, there are a handful of new shows that could end up with equally long runs as future network staples. ABC has a lot of shows returning in the fall, and it will be interesting to see how its schedule holds up throughout the season.
