‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Star Trashes Chris Evans’ ‘Lightyear’ Casting

It’s true that “Everybody Loves Raymond,” but not everybody loves Chris Evans.

More specifically, not everybody loves Evans in “Lightyear.”

Actress Patricia Heaton, who starred as Debra Barone in the TV sitcom alongside Ray Romano, has a bone to pick with Hollywood.

She took to Twitter earlier this week to trash Disney and Pixar’s casting of Evans in the Buzz Lightyear origin story called “Lightyear.”

“Lightyear” tells the story of the human Buzz Lightyear which inspired the toy.

As fans of the “Toy Story” franchise know, Tim Allen voiced the legendary toy astronaut Buzz Lightyear in all of the ‘TS’ movies.

So, when it was announced that “Captain America” would take over voicing duties of Buzz Lightyear, many were turned off by it including Heaton.

On June 14 she tweeted, “Saw the trailer for Buzz Lightyear and all I can say is Disney/Pixar made a HUGE mistake in not casting my pal @ofctimallen.”

Tim Allen Is The OG Buzz Lightyear

She continued, “Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns. Tim IS Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?”

In case you’re unsure of what “castrate” means… it’s a pretty strong choice of word.

“Castrate” is defined as removing the testicles of (a male animal or man).

Heaton’s fans and followers agreed with her statement.

“Have to agree. Tim is Buzz!” one person responded.

Another wrote, “I totally agree! Tim Allen was great in the role.”

Others had to remind Heaton that this is the origin story of how the toy came to be.

“Yeah, and this role and that aren’t the same. Why is this concept so hard for some of you. Tim voiced the toy… This movie is about the character the toy is based on, therefore not the same character,” someone replied.

“It’s not the TOY Buzz Lightyear. The movie features the ‘real’ Buzz Lightyear on whom the toy (from Toystory) was based. It’s a different character; hence a different voice,” this person let her know.

It seems Heaton got the multiple messages about the difference between the two roles.

She followed up her initial tweet with another one.

“Ok so the current Buzz Lightyear movie is an origin story 0- but the reason the character became so beloved is because of what Tim Allen created,” she wrote. “Why remove the one element that makes us want to see it? #stupidHollywooddecisions.”

This still had fans split.

Many pointed out that Allen isn’t “woke” enough for Disney/Pixar, and his political party preference is something that could’ve swayed the company from casting him.

Evans has been doing heavy promotion for the movie, which will be released in theaters on June 17th.

He recently visited Disneyland in California to pose with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed as Woody and Buzz.

The poses he struck in multiple photos were nearly identical to one another and got people talking about a possible Photoshop faux pas.

Evans took to Twitter to shut down Photoshop rumors and explained that he just has a really solid stance and that he doesn’t know what to do with his hands.

He tweeted, “I promise I’m not photoshopped into these! I just have a very disciplined post. (And I don’t know what to do with my hands.)”
