Singer Alanis Morissette has just given her fans a special surprise on Friday, June 17.

The “Ironic” singer took to Instagram to tell her followers that she has been working on a new meditation album and it will be released… today!

Alanis began her Instagram post with a supportive message to her followers, recognizing that many of her followers had struggled through the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown over the past two years. Many fans still continue to struggle as the world tries to adjust to a “new normal.”

“sending love to everyone as this pretty and funny world opens back up,” Alanis began. “i love seeing everyone’s faces and interacting again. ?”

She added that her “new (meditation) album ‘the storm before the calm’ is being released today ??” and told followers that they can access the new album through a link in her bio. Further down in the post, she told her followers that the album “is also within reach on the Calm app.”

Alanis explained that “this album was written during a time when my deep rapturous connection with stillness and gentle inquiry was no longer viewed as a luxury….but rather a sustaining mandatory for survival.”

She also credited Dave Harrington as the album’s co-writer and producer. Alanis said that their “backs and forths served as a buoy during an intensely challenging time on this planet. dave’s and my collaboration was a grace and a catapult and a deep soothing.”

She continued, “✨ this record is offered as an invitation. a balm. a safe place to land. or ignite. or restore. or fuel. or comfort. they are here to be used in any way that serves you.”

She concluded the message by saying, “i love you,” adding, “take care of your angel selves.”

If that wasn’t enough, Alanis will also perform with the Foo Fighters later this year in Los Angeles to perform at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert.

Alanis Morissette will be one of the many, many performers appearing at the Los Angeles tribute concert dedicated to the late Foo Fighters drummer. Taylor had previously toured with Alanis before joining the rock & roll band.

“Los Angeles! Please welcome the first wave of special guests to join The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts!” they wrote in the caption of the Twitter post. “More to be announced soon.”

The concert will be held on Tuesday, September 27, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.

The line-up includes a star-studded list of Chris Chaney, Stewart Copeland, Miley Cyrus, Omar Hakim, Joshua Homme, Joan Jett, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Mark Ronson, Alanis Morissette, Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx, Chad Smith, Luke Spiller, Roger Taylor, Rufus Taylor, Jon Theodore, Wolfgang Von Halen, Brad Wilk, Pat Wilson, and a special appearance by Chevy Metal.

That’s a long list, but the Foo Fighters revealed that even more performers will be revealed at a late date!

The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will benefit charities in the UK chosen by the Hawkins family. Beneficiaries and further details will be announced shortly.
