Elizabeth Olsen, who played Wanda Maximoff in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” has revealed something that will undoubtedly dampen fans’ spirits.

Her character in the film is known by the moniker Scarlet Witch, a testament to the seemingly unfathomable power she has. In a fight spanning multiverses, the superhero turned villain faced up against former supreme sorcerer Doctor Strange, on which they encountered multiple versions of themselves residing in other realms.

Following her characters journey though out the movie up until the end, Olsen has now disclosed that there are presently no plans for a standalone Scarlett Witch feature, adding to the intrigue surrounding her appearance in the Marvel action movie.

No Scarlet Witch Solo Movie In The Works

Olsen shared this tidbit when speaking on the daytime show “Good Morning America.” The actress arrived on set dressed in a blue suit, a yellow flowery top, and black boots, channeling her character’s stunningly stern appearance from the Marvel blockbuster.

“There’s no plan, and I’m serious,” Olsen said in response to show host, Michael Strahan, asking if her character is getting a solo movie soon.

“I’m not a good liar. I wish I had a plan, and I’m not sure,” Olsen said, adding of “Multiverse of Madness,” I really am excited for fans to see this film because it is something very different from what they’ve seen and I’m really curious to hear what they want after because I think it is a very surprising film.”

In the sequel to “Doctor Strange,” Olsen’s character goes full evil, violently murdering several individuals in the hopes of reuniting with her twin boys, who only live in another reality. Doctor Strange and juvenile hero America Chavez eventually stopped her ambitions, with the two devising a brilliant method to persuade her to reconsider her destructive acts.

Scarlet Witch Takes A Dark Turn ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Seeing Olsen’s character transformed into her worst self, utterly corrupted by the villainous Darkhold, was a striking move that demonstrated just how much evil can be unleashed when heroes let their dark side take hold of them.

Although it is not the first time a Marvel hero has changed allegiances to become a villain, Scarlett Witch’s decision to become the main antagonist had such disastrous consequences that it is unlikely that her character would be able to redeem herself if she survives the events at the Darkhold Castle.

No one, not even Doctor Strange, addressed her death at the film’s conclusion, and there are also no post-credit sequences that include an acknowledgment of her demise, which seemed disappointing given all of the amazing work she had done in previous Avengers films over the years.

Nonetheless, this does not rule out the possibility of a Scarlett Witch solo film in the future since Marvel has brought back multiple characters in other films if the narrative is suitable.

Elizabeth Olsen Is Open To Starring In A Scarlet Witch Solo Film

Olsen herself acknowledged that, while no plans for a Scarlett Witch solo film are currently in the works, she would be willing to star in one “as long as the story’s good.”

Following the same storyline as Marvel’s “Black Widow” origin tale would be the easiest way to make a standalone picture. Natasha “Nat” Romanoff, the superhero character who died in “Avengers: Endgame” during a quest to find the Soul Stone, was seen embarking on a mission with her sister Yelena in her own film, which likely took place before the events of the “Avengers” film.

Similarly, a standalone Scarlet Witch thriller would most likely focus on Wanda Maximoff’s origins and any events leading to her joining the Avengers. All of these, however, remain speculation until Marvel decides to provide an update to its followers.

Elizabeth Olsen Set To Star In HBO’s ‘Love and Death’

While many people are still catching up on Olsen’s role in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the actress already has another project lined up for fans in the coming months.

Olsen will play Candy Montgomery, a Texan housewife who murdered her friend Betty Gore in 1980 as part of HBO’s miniseries “Love and Death.” The showrunners announced the series in May 2021, announcing that Olsen had been cast in the starring role at the time.

Later in the month, Jesse Plemons joined the Olsen as a cast member, followed by Patrick Fugit in June, and Lily Rabe, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Tom Pelphrey, and Krysten Ritter rounding up the ensemble in the months that followed. Filming began on September 27, 2021, in Kyle, Texas, and continued in various locations in the state until April 7, 2022.

The film “Love and Death” will be released in 2022.
