Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa spent the Mother’s Day weekend enduring a parent’s worst nightmare when their 6-year-old son had to undergo emergency surgery.
The doting parents detailed the harrowing experience in separate Instagram posts, assuring fans that the storm is over and their son is doing well.
Christina Haack & Tarek El Moussa’s Son Had Emergency Appendectomy
Haack was the first to share the news, uploading a heartbreaking photo of her son lying in the hospital bed asleep while plugged up to a machine. “Scary 12 hours for us parents + step parents,” Haack began the lengthy caption.
She continued, “After being admitted to the ER, Brayden had to have an emergency appendectomy as well as removal of Meckel’s diverticulum early this morning.”
The HGTV star confessed that there was “nothing like seeing your child in excruciating pain ?,” before telling her fans that the surgery went well and Brayden was “recovering and in good spirits.”
The loving mom sweetly appreciated the staff of Mission Hospital and expressed her gratitude that the condition was caught on time before things got worse.
“Blessed to have 3 healthy + happy kids, caring family and friends, and a husband who stands by my side. Happy Mother’s Day everyone,” she concluded the message.
The “Christina On The Coast” star’s post was met with an outpouring of love and support from fans who wished little Brayden a speedy recovery. One fan wrote, “Oh my gosh I’m so sorry this happened but so relieved he is okay!!! Sending you all love and prayers this morning.”
Another comforted Haack, writing, “So thankful Bray is in the best of hands and has his mommy right next to him. While not the most ideal way to spend Mother’s Day, this is exactly what being the amazing mother you are is all about.”
Little Brayden Was ‘Extremely Sick’
About an hour after Haack’s post, her ex-husband El Moussa took to Instagram to open up about the scary experience. As you might know, El Moussa and Haack were married for nine years before finalizing their divorce in 2018.
The former couple shares two children, daughter Taylor and son Brayden. Telling his point of view of the terrifying incident, El Moussa described the past 24 hours as “interesting.”

He recalled, “Last night we were at the CHOC Gala, and this morning we were at CHOC hospital waiting for Brayden to get out of surgery.”
The real estate investor, who is now married to Heather Rae Young, revealed that his son was “extremely sick last night” so Haack took him to the emergency room.
“It turns out it was the right call because he had to have his appendix removed and also we found out he has something rare called Meckel’s diverticulum,” El Moussa wrote as he praised his ex-wife’s actions.
The “Rock the Block” star informed fans that both surgeries were successful and Brayden was recovering with his mom by his side overnight. The proud dad praised his son for being a “strong boy” and opened up about the pre-schooler’s excitement about eating “real food tomorrow.”
El Moussa concluded the post, writing, “very scary day, but we all banned together as a family to get through it. Thank you to the amazing Doctors and nurses who took such incredible care of our boy.”
Doting stepmother Heather wrote in the comments section, “❤️❤️ ?scary scary day for us my love. I love you so much.”
A Custody Battle Between Haack & Ant Anstead
Little Brayden’s emergency surgery comes weeks after his mother got slammed with a custody suit from her second ex-husband Ant Anstead. Anstead and Haack became an item in 2018 after her split from El Moussa.
However, their union only lasted three years, and was blessed with just one son Hudson London. In the divorce proceeding, the duo was given joint custody, but in late April, Anstead filed to change the custody arrangement.

As The Blast reported, Anstead claimed in an emergency filing that Haack created an unsafe environment for their 2-year-old son and was an unsafe parent.
He claimed that the 38-year-old real estate guru, who is now married to her third husband Josh Hall, only spends an average of nine full days a month over the past one year and eight months.
The television presenter recalled an incident when little Hudson came home with a severe sunburn while under his mother’s care.
He also accused Haack of using their son as a social media puppet and requested that the toddler not appear in any paid campaigns done on his ex-wife’s social media page.
Despite Anstead’s claims, a California judge denied his request for full custody, citing “insufficient” showing of pressing matters as the reason.
The estranged couple will revisit the custody arrangement in a June 28 hearing.
