Ahead of his upcoming Paramount+ series, Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone talks about joining the streamer's biggest drama show, Yellowstone.

Sylvester Stallone Absolutely Open To Potential Yellowstone Role

Sylvester Stallone says he is open to appearing alongside Kevin Costner in the Paramount+ series Yellowstone. After playing the Italian Stallion in 1976’s Rocky, Stallone went on to reprise that role numerous times, become Rambo, and one of the defining action stars of his generation — from Cobra and Cliffhanger, to Copland and The Expendables franchise. The 75-year-old icon is set to appear next in the upcoming superhero movie Samaritan, The Expendables 4Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and his first TV role in Paramount+’s Tulsa King.

Tulsa King follows Stallone as the ageing Italian mobster Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi who, after being released from prison, is tasked with reestablishing his mafia in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realizing his mob family has essentially exiled him, Dwight builds a rag-tag crew of criminals to establish a criminal empire in the unlikeliest of places. Alongside The Sopranos producer Terence Winter, Tulsa King is one of several Paramount+ projects being developed by Taylor Sheridan, who also created Yellowstone. The hit drama show stars Kevin Costner as the very stubborn rancher John Dutton, and is currently gearing up for season 5.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight about Tulsa King, Stallone was asked about a potential appearance in Sheridan’s other series, Yellowstone. Given that he’s known Costner for “centuries,” Stallone said he’d absolutely be open to a role. Pitching a possible character for his Yellowstone appearance, Stallone said he’d like to make Dutton “an offer [he ]can’t refuse.” Read the full quote below:

“Absolutely. He’d finally run into a guy who’s like, ‘I’d just like to have a retirement home. Do you mind if I buy your entire ranch? I got an offer you can’t refuse.’… That’d be great. Good man.”

Despite his tongue-in-cheek reference to The Godfather, it does appear Stallone is actually interested in a Yellowstone appearance. What’s more, if Sheridan has another hit with Tulsa King, there’s no reason to think his working relationship with Stallone won’t continue. Even before Sheridan found success with projects like Sicario, Hell or High WaterWind River, and Yellowstone, the pair met at an equestrian center in Burbank, California, where Stallone’s daughters trained to ride horses. On top of the appeal of also working with Costner, Stallone is clearly a fan familiar with Yellowstone’s plot, as everyone is always after the Dutton ranch, albeit at their own peril.

Yellowstone is coming off season 4 and is currently the highest-rated show for the Paramount+ service. Four years ago, no one would’ve suspected the streamer would now be investing in a Yellowstone universe, which is attracting some of the biggest names in the industry. In addition to the spinoff 6666 and the prequel series, 1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Paramount+ is developing another prequel, 1923, with Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford set to lead its cast. With the franchise continuing to expand, there’s certainly a possibility that Stallone could appear to make the Dutton family an offer they’ll most likely refuse.
