Pablo Schreiber On The Halo Series, Playing Master Chief And Fan Expectations

You may know him as The Wire’s Nick Sobotka, American Gods’ Mad Sweeney, or Orange Is The New Black’s George ‘Pornstache’ Mendez, but with his new role in Paramount+’s Halo series, Pablo Schreiber is taking on his most iconic role – the game’s much-loved, heavily armoured protagonist, Master Chief.

Yes, after a long and checkered history of attempts to adapt Halo for the big and small screen, Paramount+ have finally done it. The new streaming service officially launched in the UK yesterday, and viewers will find nine brutal, bloody episodes of Halo waiting for them – plus, there’s more Halo still to come, as a second season has already been confirmed.

Schreiber stopped by the Pilot TV podcast this week to tell us all about his relationship to the game, having to attend both a physical training bootcamp and a nerdy one to get to grips with its lore, managing fan expectations when bringing this character to life, and what being Master Chief means to him.
