Queen Elizabeth II will not attend a royal engagement she had planned for Tuesday, May 10.
The Queen has been suffering from health issues for a good portion of 2022.
Buckingham Palace released a statement on Monday, May 9, which read: “Her Royal Highness continues to experience episodic mobility problems.”

The statement continued, in “consultation with her doctors,” the Queen has “reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow.”
Her son, Prince Charles, will take over her duties.
“At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales will read The Queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf, with The Duke of Cambridge also in attendance,” it read.
Her Issues Could Be A Side Effect Of COVID-19
We previously reported on Queen Elizabeth’s Coronavirus diagnosis.
In February, Buckingham Palace released a statement which explained Her Royal Highness was experiencing cold-like symptoms.
“She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines,” the palace added. It is reported that the Queen has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
News of the Queen’s diagnosis came shortly after Prince Charles had tested positive for the virus ten days ago. The Clarence House released a statement on behalf of the 73-year-old royal on February 10.
“This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating,” the statement read. “HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.”
Mobility issues in the elderly can be a side effect of the Coronavirus; however, Buckingham Palace’s statement did not disclose if her mobility issues were due to the virus.
Following her contracting COVID-19, rumors swirled that the Queen had died, but those rumors were entirely false.
In April, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 96th birthday on April 21.
She typically throws a grand celebration, but this year she opted for a private celebration.
E! News reported that a senior Buckingham palace spokesperson said, “Her Majesty has travelled to the Sandringham estate for a private break.”

Her latest break from the public eye comes after a slew of missed events.
Most recently, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Her Majesty would not be joining the other members of the royal family at the Easter Service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on April 17. A reason for her absence was not disclosed to the public.
Despite keeping her distance from the public, Queen Elizabeth II did make time to meet with her estranged grandson during his visit to England.
Harry sat down with Hoda Kotb on “TODAY” and opened up about his grandmother’s well-being.
“It was just so nice to see her,” he told Kotb. “She’s on great form.”
Harry explained how he, Meghan and Her Majesty shared some laughs over tea during his visit.
“[The Queen’s] always got a great sense of humor with me,” Harry admitted. “It was really nice to catch up with her.”
And if you think Harry will let the Atlantic Ocean keep him from protecting his grandmother, think again.
He insured to Kotb that he is making sure she is well looked after.
