Beyoncé New Single ‘Break My Soul’ Drops Early, Fans Dub It ‘Disco Pride’

Ever since Beyoncé announced her new album and seventh solo studio album, “Renaissance”, fans have been going a bit crazy, and now Queen Bey dropped another bomb.

Her new single “Break My Soul”, track #6 from the album, was released three hours before the announced time and not just that, it streamed on Tidal, which is Jay-Z’s streaming service. Fans are absolutely mind-blown, calling it the song they needed for this summer. Here’s more on Bey, who is back, and how…

The first single from Beyoncé’s forthcoming seventh solo studio album “Renaissance” is out, and it’s a fantastic dance track with a pride vibe to it. Called “Break My Soul”, it starts out with Bey throwing it down with a clear statement of intent.

“I’mma let down my hair ’cause I lost my mind
Bey is back and I’m sleeping real good at night
The queen’s in the front and the Dom’s in the back
Ain’t taking no flicks but the whole clique snapped.”

The song comes co-produced by the same dream team that also made “Single Ladies”, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream. Expect a plinking beat, a hot dance track and of course, there’s also the sartorial rap by Big Freedia in there.

As the song says,

“Release your anger, release your mind
Release your job, release the time
Release your trade, release the stress
Release the love, forget the rest.”

Writing credits for the song are shared by Jay-Z, Adam Pigott (a.k.a BlaqNmilD), Freddie Ross, a.k.a Big Freedia, and the writers of Robin S’s 1993 hit “Show Me Love,” to which there are plenty of hark-backs in the song.

Fans noticed it as well, writing, “This is a sample from ‘show me love’ by Robin s! Absolutely love it thank you queen b.”

Beyoncé’s Latest Streamed On Tidal

MEGA

In a snub to popular streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify, “Break My Soul” broke on Tidal. Tidal is a streaming service co-owned by Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, and the song was released three hours earlier than the announced time of midnight, ET. An hour or so later, it also went live on YouTube and Vevo.

According to Beyoncé’s website, it’s now on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music, as well as Tidal.

This is not the first time Beyoncé has chosen Tidal over others. Her 2016 album, “Lemonade” stayed on only Tidal for three years, something that might have cost her millions in streaming royalties. Her next album “Renaissance” would be fully released on July 29, and it’s likely to feature both dance and country tracks.

According to Variety, the album will have contributions from Ryan Tedder, from the OneRepublic fame, who also worked with Beyoncé for “Halo.” Raphael Saadiq, who worked with Beyoncé’s sister Solange is also aid to be another contributor.

Sources claim the album will contain 16 tracks, and there might be a multi-part release considering it’s called “Act 1.” Beyoncé’s website also gives fans a choice of pre-orders on four different boxed sets for the album, dubbed “Pose” 1-4. Each included a CD, T-shirt, and a box. You may order them now but they will ship on the day of the album’s release, so they could all be different packages for “Act 1.”

Fans Are Overwhelmed With Beyoncé Being Back

Fans are down for it, calling it the “summer anthem” and “song we all needed now.”

Some felt it was the perfect pride anthem, writing:

“Mom came back with a disco pride anthem.”

“Bey and Drake have the same concept on this album! I think this song is for gay pride month! Don’t worry it will play enough on the radio for me to like it.”

Many other fans felt it was a perfect example of Beyoncé’s evolution, writing: “Amazing! If you’re disappointed it’s because you were expecting a song that a past version of Beyonce would do. But she evolves every album, she is innovative and unpredictable. Welcome back, queen.”

Meanwhile, it seems Queen Bey has declared Covid is over, as the lyrics go:

“(Good at night) And we back outside
You said you outside, but you ain’t that outside
Worldwide hoodie with the mask outside
In case you forgot how we act outside.”
