How Boba Fett Actor Felt About Working with Ewan McGregor Again in Obi-Wan

The Book of Boba Fetts Temuera Morrison has opened up about reuniting with Ewan McGregor for his cameo appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Morrison first joined the Star Wars universe in 2002’s Attack of the Clones as Jango Fett, a bounty hunter who served as the genetic template for the clone army and the adoptive father of a young, unaltered clone who would go on to become the legendary Boba Fett. Not only would Morrison later go on to feature in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith as the face of multiple clones, but he also headlined his own Disney+ series as an older version of Boba Fett set after the events of Return of the Jedi.

Recently, McGregor himself returned to headline his own 6-part Obi-Wan Kenobi series set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and the infamous execution of Order 66. During the show’s second episode, fans were treated to a brief cameo from Morrison playing an unnamed clone veteran. Depicted as homeless and reduced to begging on the streets, it became apparent that life under the Galactic Empire was not good for the former members of the Grand Army of the Republic.

Most recently Morrison spoke with Total Film (via Comicbook) about his appearance on the show and what it was like to work with McGregor again. Calling his participation in the show a ”wonderful opportunity”, Morrison stated that he “enjoyed working with Ewan again”. Check out his full comments below:

It was a wonderful opportunity to pop in there and see what they’re doing across the room from where we were. That came in handy, it worked out quite good to make a little cameo. I enjoyed working with Ewan again, going back to Attack of the Clones. We did all that [puts on clone character’s voice], ‘Hey, you! You came to see me and this army,’ and all that stuff. It was a wonderful time.

Twenty years on from when the pair first crossed paths in Attack of the Clones, Morrison’s cameo not only provided Obi-Wan Kenobi with a dose of nostalgic fan service but also help paint a picture of what life was like for the clones after the rise of the Empire. As fans of The Bad Batch animated series will be aware, plans to replace the clone army with Imperial Stormtroopers began not long after Palpatine’s formal proclamation of the Empire’s founding. However brief, Morrison’s cameo went on to illustrate exactly how callous the Imperial regime was in regards to how they treated the very same forces that first allowed them to come to power.

As for Morrison’s future in the Star Wars franchise, fans are hoping that he may be set to return again as the fan-favorite clone Captain Rex in the upcoming Ahsoka series alongside Rosario Dawson. With thousands of potential clones still living in the Star Wars universe, the possibilities for him to remain active in the franchise are nearly limitless. In the meantime, fans will keep their fingers crossed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will not be the last audiences see of him in that very famous galaxy far, far away.
