Actor Christian Bale would be open to donning Batman’s cape and cowl again, if director Christopher Nolan asks. Bale shared this exciting possibility in a Screen Rant interview.

“I had a pact with Chris Nolan,” Bale said. “We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”

Similarly, last year Danny DeVito made a similar comment about Tim Burton and the possibility of returning as The Penguin. DeVito said, “We ain’t dead yet.”

Bale said that he hasn’t yet seen Robert Pattinson’s take on the role in The Batman, though he does plan to do so in the future–Bale noted that he doesn’t watch many movies because he prefers to “really savor films.” Bale added, “Robert is an absolutely wonderful actor. We bumped into each other, talked a little bit about it ahead of time, and I heard wonderful things.”

The Dark Knight Rises came out in 2012, and Bale is currently 48. Michael Keaton, 70, is returning to his version of Batman in the upcoming Flash movie.

Bale will soon make his MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder as Gorr the God Butcher, also known as the film’s primary villain. The film pits him against Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder, who returns to the franchise after the Infinity Saga. Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.
