Barbara Broccoli Says Next Bond Film Is Two Years Away From Shooting

If you were waiting for the next iteration of the Bond movie series or for news of who might be playing the title character, the word from producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson is, "just wait longer". Because according to Broccoli, the next film is at least two years away.

Broccoli and Wilson, the EON duo who are shepherds of the Bond character and its future, received their BFI Fellowships at a star-studded event and talked to Deadline about what's going on with both finding a new actor to play Bond and what the films will look like going forward.

"Nobody’s in the running," Broccoli said. "We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away."

At this point, it's worth pointing out that four years elapsed between Pierce Brosnan's last Bond (Die Another Day) and Daniel Craig's debut in Casino Royale, so it's not unusual for there to be a waiting period between 007s. And it's potentially complicated further by how No Time To Die ended (spoiler alert: boom!)

So, yes… sounds like we might be waiting until at least 2025 before a new Bond movie arrives. But given MGM's big deal with Amazon, can't we just get rush shipping with a Prime account?
