Viral Deadpool Video Shows Exactly How Scarlet Witch Can Be Defeated
A fan-made Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness video featuring Deadpool shows exactly how the Scarlet Witch can be defeated in the MCU. Ryan Reynolds’ Merc-With-A-Mouth will soon join the MCU on the heels of Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s movie and TV assets. Before he makes his debut in the successful franchise, however, he has already demonstrated a resolution to potentially one of Phase 4’s biggest problems — Wanda Maximoff fully embracing her villainous side, making her much more difficult to stop.
Elizabeth Olsen joined the franchise in 2014’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and since then has been a regular face in its storytelling. While she was always depicted as the black sheep of the Avengers, Scarlet Witch officially became a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, posing a serious threat to the multiverse. Despite being one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, she isn’t without any weakness, and inadvertently, Deadpool exposes her fatal fighting flaw in a viral video that was originally made for comedic purposes.
In the fan-made clip, Deadpool sneaks into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness while Scarlet Witch is confronting Earth-838’s Illuminati. As Wanda talks to Mister Fantastic (John Krasinski), Maria Rambeau’s Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), and Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), just before Black Bolt (Anson Mount) gets murdered, Wade Wilson comes right up behind her and then slashes her head off. This doesn’t give Scarlet Witch time to defend herself, resulting in her death. As ridiculous as the concept is, this is actually the best way to defeat Wanda. As pointed out by Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in Captain America: Civil War, Wanda tends to forget to look over her shoulder. So despite her innate power level, an adversary can easily sneak up behind her and quickly neutralize her which is exactly what Deadpool does in the viral video.
There have been certain instances where this weakness in Wanda’s fighting arsenal were exposed. In Avengers: Infinity War, she and Vision (Paul Bettany) were ambushed by Black Order members Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) and Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw) in Scotland, then something similar happened during the Battle of Wakanda later in the film. In Avengers: Endgame, she was doing a great job squeezing Thanos (Josh Brolin) in his own armor when she failed to sense bullets coming her direction. Granted that the Titan ordered his minions to rain in on her, considering Wanda’s powers, she could have also easily taken care of that. Finally, during Wanda’s fight with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) in WandaVision, the old witch was able to catch her off guard multiple times. All of these happened long after Black Widow’s coaching sessions with her as seen in Captain America: Civil War.
After the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda’s fate is current in limbo. That being said, there’s no doubt that the Scarlet Witch will return to the MCU, hopefully as she begins her redemption arc. This means that she will eventually join the new roster of Avengers, and to fully maximize her potential, hopefully she is finally able to address this fighting flaw of her. Otherwise, sneaky fighters like Deadpool could be the death of the character.
