Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 Fan Reactions To The Ending
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4, part 2.
Fan reactions pour in for the explosive and emotional ending to Stranger Things season 4, part 2. First airing on Netflix in 2016, Stranger Things quickly became a massive hit, introducing audiences to the mysterious and mind-bending town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s. The Duffer Brothers’ horror/fantasy series follows a group of youngsters and their super-powered friend, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who fight back against various other-wordly monsters after discovering a portal to another dimension in the bowels of a top-secret government lab.
After a month-long wait, Stranger Things‘ fourth season finally aired its last two supersized episodes this past Friday. The episodes see Eleven and the rest of the crew win their battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), but hint that the interdimensional being is still very much alive and that a war is on the horizon, with the Upside Down now spilling into the real world. After his introduction at the start of the season, the Stranger Things season 4 finale also saw the emotional death of fan-favorite character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). Although it initially appeared that Max (Sadie Sink) would join him in death, the beloved character thankfully survived but now remains in a coma.
The Stranger Things season 4 finale featured a number of tense and emotional moments, and many fans are taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on what transpired. Many mourn Eddie’s loss and celebrate his epic guitar solo, while others share their thoughts on Max’s grisly brush with death. Check out some of the fan reactions below:

I firmly believe that #StrangerThings had the three best needle drops of the year all in one season. Running Up That Hill, Separate Ways, and Master of Puppets. All three jaw-dropping moments. ? pic.twitter.com/VTiJ9tkADQ

With deaths in previous seasons including the likes of Bob (Sean Astin) and Billy (Dacre Montgomery), Stranger Things doesn’t shy away emotional character deaths, but, judging from the fan reaction, it would seem that Eddie’s death is the saddest yet. After being introduced as something of a wildcard at the start of the season, Eddie’s pure heart quickly shines through. His death is made all the more sad considering he sacrificed himself for a town that still believes he is a Satan-worshipper responsible for Chrissy’s death.
Although Max makes it through the season alive (but only just), her brush with death was similarly traumatizing, seeing the character have most of her limbs broken and her ability to see taken away. It remains to be seen if she will pull through in Stranger Things season 5, but the season 4 finale clearly sets up an even more emotional and impactful final season to come. With the season’s ending teasing that all of Hawkins is at risk from Vecna’s Upside Down incursion, it’s likely that fans will have more characters to mourn when the final season of Stranger Things eventually releases.
