Black Panther 2 will soon begin its marketing campaign, though some early leaked merchandise revealed first looks for Namor, Atlantis, and Wakanda.

Black Panther 2: All Namor, Atlantis & Wakanda Reveals From Leaked Merch

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will likely begin its main marketing push after the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, but some merchandising leaks have offered first looks at some of the aspects of the film, from Namor and Atlantis to Wakanda itself. It was rumored since the beginning of production on Black Panther that the sequel would introduce the character of Namor to the MCU. Now, with these merch leaks, the Sub-Mariner’s inclusion in the film is all but confirmed.

Namor’s presence, in turn, means that the film will also introduce another major fictional city of the Marvel universe, the underwater city of Atlantis. Given that Wakanda is a fictional country itself, and the sequel will apparently focus on the country as a whole, it makes sense for Marvel Studios to pair that with Atlantis and Namor in the MCU. One thing that will be interesting to see, however, is how Marvel will tackle the portrayal of Atlantis, given the significant popularity of Aquaman and the similarities to the DC property.

Early reports have indicated that Marvel will differentiate their own version of Atlantis by steeping the city in Central American culture. This provides evidence to the reports that Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta will be playing the role of Namor in Black Panther 2. All of this seems to have been all but confirmed by the leaked merchandise for the upcoming film, which provided first looks at Namor’s design, as well as some new looks for both Atlanteans and the film’s Wakandan characters.

First Look At The MCU’s Atlanteans

The first reveal comes in the form of the Atlanteans. From the leaked merch image, Black Panther 2, which will include Iron Man’s MCU replacement, has provided the first look at Attuma, an Atlantean from Marvel Comics. Attuma in the comics was an Atlantean warlord who is usually shown as an enemy of Namor, providing further evidence that the latter may be shown as the anti-hero from the comics as opposed to a villain. Attuma is shown similarly to the Atlanteans of Marvel Comics, following the art style of their blue skin. The leaked image shows Attuma sporting an array of naval-based armor and weaponry, from what is seemingly a hammer-head shark skull as a helmet to a fin-shaped spearhead. The costume also provides further evidence of Atlantis being based on Central America, with Attuma’s outfit containing intricate embroidery and a neckpiece akin to ancient Mayan clothing. Namor the Sub-Mariner’s Black Panther 2 Design

Following on from the look at Attuma, the first glimpse of Namor in Black Panther 2 has been shown. The design of Namor is notably different from Attuma, being much more toned-down in its approach, at least from the first of the two outfits shown for Namor in the leaked Black Panther: Wakanda Forever merch. The first costume shows Namor wearing simple swimming trunks with plenty of adornments on his arms and chest. The greaves, armbands, and chest piece are aesthetically similar to Attuma’s, from the gold patterns to the intricately designed chest piece.

The second outfit is also similar, albeit with one notable difference. Namor is wearing a headpiece with an animalistic design, similar to that of Attuma’s. The only other differences to the second look at Namor are the visibility of the wings on Namor’s heels, a staple of the comic version of the character that also provides Marvel comics’ Namor with certain powers. Aside from this, the second outfit simply looks more armored, with three cape-like tendrils also flowing from Namor’s back.

One reveal from Namor’s look hints at the character’s origins in the MCU, which will seemingly be similar to those of his comic book counterpart. In the comics, Namor is an Atlantean-human hybrid, with his mother being Atlantean and his father being human. Due to these origins, Namor has human-colored skin as opposed to the blue skin of the Atlanteans. It seems the MCU version of Namor will continue this design choice, showing Namor as having tanned skin while Attuma’s is blue. Check out the Namor images below.

Okoye & Shuri’s Black Panther 2 Costumes

The final reveal comes in the form of Okoye and Shuri from Black Panther 2. Following the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, it was revealed that Black Panther 2 would focus more closely on the fictional country of Wakanda and the secondary characters from the first film, including both Shuri and Okoye. While the image of the two doesn’t reveal much about how their characters will differ from the original Black Panther, it is still cool to see their looks for the upcoming sequel. Okoye is wearing an outfit very similar to that of the first movie and is donning her Dora Milaje uniform, indicating that her character plays a similar role in Black Panther 2, being the lead protector of Wakanda’s ruler.

Shuri, on the other hand, is wearing what seems to be a simple purple tracksuit. While this doesn’t offer any hints of her character, especially given that Shuri was rumored to be Black Panther after T’Challa, the purple coloring is interesting. As was shown by T’Challa’s Black Panther suit, the armor powered up with a purple glow before releasing the energy in a purple blast. Shuri’s purple outfit could be Marvel subtly hinting at her character’s future as the next Black Panther. While this could be a stretch, the link is interesting, to say the least, with the other merchandise reveals only serving to whet appetites for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
