Slam Dunk Movie Trailer Is Coming Soon – And Here's The First Poster

The latest poster for The First Slam Dunk reveals the nearing release date of the first trailer. The movie is based on the 90s sports anime series Slam Dunk. It follows Hanamichi Sakuragi (originally voiced by Takeshi Kusao) who is disheartened by heartbreak and reluctantly joins his high school basketball team. The show ran from 1993-96, with several films telling more Slam Dunk stories during the series duration. Now, this beloved anime is returning with its newest movie continuation.

After it was initially announced last year, the first look at The First Slam Dunk is coming soon. A new poster featuring a familiar Slam Dunk character has been released, teasing the upcoming movie. Alongside this promotional material, it was announced that the trailer for The First Slam Dunk will release on July 7. Like most other anime and anime movies, The First Slam Dunk will first hit movie theaters across Japan on December 3, 2022. Unfortunately, there is no word as to when international fans will get to see the film, but hopefully, the overseas release won’t be too far behind. The original creator Takehiko Inoue returned to Toei Animation for the latest Slam Dunk story, both writing and directing the revival Slam Dunk movie. He’s joined by other talented creatives like Attack on Titan’s Yasuyuki Ebara as character designer and animation director, and One Piece: Z’s Kazuo Ogura as art director. With Inoue’s heavy input, high expectations are set for the fast-approaching release date of The First Slam Dunk trailer.
