Loki Season 2 Set Photo References Kumail Nanjiani's Eternals Character

Kumail Nanjiani’s Eternals character Kingo is referenced in new Loki season 2 set photos. Tom Hiddleston’s beloved god of mischief appeared to finally meet his end in Avengers: Infinity War. However, Loki returned thanks to the Avengers’ time travel mishaps in Avengers: Endgame, allowing Marvel Studios to give him a solo Disney+ series. The first season of Loki followed this variant of Tom Hiddleston’s trickster as he worked with the Time Variance Authority to stop a female version of himself, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). This sparked a story that explored multiple timelines before the multiverse itself cracked.

Marvel Studios knew that Loki would be a hit and that there was room to do more, which is why the season 1 finale included confirmation that a second season was already happening. The announcement of Loki season 2 means that the show will have another opportunity to explore the multiverse and make surprising MCU and Marvel comics connections in the process. Early set photos from Loki season 2 already revealed that an obscure villain known as Zaniac will be referenced. After getting everything from Thorg to Thanos’ chopper in the first season, many are looking forward to seeing what Easter eggs are coming next.

More set photos from the start of filming on Loki season 2 continue to surface online. Previous images revealed Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius wearing tuxes for an event, which seems to be at or near a movie theater. Now, more Loki season 2 set photos have been revealed, and one includes a connection to Kumail Nanjiani’s Eternals character Kingo. In the second image below, a movie poster for Sarosh ke Putra, also known as Son of Sarosh, starring Kingo can be seen.

The Bollywood movie poster for Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo in Loki season 2 might look familiar to MCU fans and for good reason. The exact same poster was previously featured in Eternals aboard Kingo’s private plane. Son of Sarosh is one of the many movies that the Eternal starred in under a previous guise. Thanks to the apparent 1970s setting of the other Loki season 2 photos, it is now known that this was one of Kingo’s movies made during this time period. This is right around the same time Kingo meets Karun Patel, who became his loyal assistant.

With Loki season 2 referencing Kumail Nanjiani’s Eternals character, the Kingo references are becoming increasingly popular in upcoming Phase 4 projects. Set photos for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special also revealed a Kingo poster. So far, it is not known if Kumail Nanjiani has filmed any additional appearances as his MCU superhero. Even though Kingo was taken by Arishem in Eternals‘ ending, the multiverse aspect of Loki season 2 means that a Kumail Nanjiani cameo can happen without breaking any continuity.
