The Cappadocia region of central Turkey is famous for its rock formations, although this past weekend the area drew a different kind of attention via Echoes From Agartha.

Happening at the base of one these aforementioned rocks near Anatolia, Turkey, the festival hosted 2,000 party people who trekked to this remote destination from more than 68 countries for the five-day event (June 29-July 3).

And they came for good reason. This second year of Echoes From Agartha — named for a mythical city said to exist at the core of the Earth — featured a pristine lineup of underground electronic talent including Lee Burridge, Seth Troxler, WhoMadeWho and Mind Against playing in a surreal setting.

But that’s not all. Those who made the excursion were also treated to ornate performances, sunrise vibes and daytime activities including ATV tours, Sufi teachings in a local monastery, Turkish rug and ceramic making, a visit to the region’s famed underground city dating back to the seventh and eighth centuries BCE, historical and cultural tours, and hot air balloon rides over the mountainous region, a UNESCO World Heritage site formed 60 million years ago when layers of lava and ash from Mount Erciyes — a 12,851-foot volcano — eroded via wind and rain.

Altogether, it was a heady good time for music lovers and history buffs with an adventurous streak. Didn’t make it? Get a taste of Agartha via these images from the fest.
