John Steinback’s classic novel “East of Eden” is getting another screen adaptation now that Netflix landed the rights to develop the book into a series, and the project is already shaping up to be exciting.
Zoe Kazan is set to write the screenplay for the series, with Florence Pugh joining the project in a starring role and boarding the creative team as a co-producer. The popular source material, originally published in 1952, has previously been adapted twice for screen — first, the 1955 James Dean-led feature film with Zoe’s grandfather, Elia Kazan, at the helm, and then the 1981 ABC miniseries.
