Law & Order, Organized Crime Both Renewed By NBC
The revival of Law & Order, and Law & Order: Organized Crime, have both been renewed by NBC, continuing the success of the long-running franchise.

Both the revival of Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime have been renewed for more seasons. With a cast that includes Anthony Anderson, Camryn Manheim, Hugh Dancy, Jeffrey Donovan, and Odelya Halevi, Law & Order season 21 continues the procedural format of following the police as they investigate crime, and the district attorneys who attempt to prosecute their cases. As for Organized Crime, which debuted in April 2021, it centers on Detective Elliot Stabler (played by the returning Christopher Meloni) in the aftermath of an unexpected death.

According to Deadline, both Law & Order: Organized Crime and the revived Law & Order series have been granted new seasons at NBC. That means Organized Crime will be back for season 3, while Law & Order will enter into season 22. The series that started Dick Wolf’s long-running franchise was resurrected more than 11 years after its initial cancellation. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which is led by Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson, has already been renewed for season 24, extending its distinction as the longest-running primetime live-action series of all time.

The Law & Order renewals aren’t surprising, given the ratings performance of the franchise as a whole. Since its return in February, the original Law & Order has nabbed the top spot on Thursday nights in the important 18-49 age demographic, and other key audiences. The same is true for Organized Crime, which is ranked first in its Thursday timeslot. Law & Order creator Wolf has also seen big success at CBS, as his FBI franchise also received renewals this month. It points to the fact that, even in a changing television landscape, there so far continues to be a place for familiar and beloved procedurals like Law & Order.
