Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively And Paul Feig Back For A Simple Favour Sequel
Prepare for more twisty mystery. Empire has the news.

Though A Simple Favour faced some mixed critical reviews upon its release in 2018, Paul Feig's Anna Kendrick/Blake Lively mystery was a success at the box office. It's surprising, then, (though scheduling probably got in the way) that it's taken this long for a sequel to come together, with Feig and his actors back on board.

The original film, which saw Jessica Sharzer adapting Darcey Bell's novel, saw Kendrick playing Stephenie Smothers, a single mother and vlogger who strikes up an unlikely friendship with the confident, glamorous and secretive Emily Nelson, who has a son in the same elementary school where Stephanie's son attends.

When Emily mysteriously disappears, Stephanie investigates – and strikes up a connection with Emily's husband Sean (Henry Golding) in the process. There are twists and turns from there that we won't spoil, but the story does end with possibilities for more from the characters.

Sharzer is also back to write the new script, though she won't be working from a Bell novel this time, so the plot is a mystery for now – which makes sense.
