Tuca & Bertie Season 3 Cast & Character Guide: What The Actors Look Like
Tuca & Bertie season 3 will see its main cast of Tuca, Bertie, and Speckles return, plus others; here's what the cast looks like and who they voice.

Tuca & Bertie Season 3 Cast & Character Guide: What The Actors Look Like

Tuca & Bertie season 3 sees many beloved characters of the adult comedy animated series return, with main characters and cameos voiced by a talented pool of voice actors. Created by BoJack Horseman producer Lisa Hanawalt, Tuca & Bertie first premiered on Netflix in 2019. After being canceled by the streaming giant despite the critical acclaim it received, the show moved to Adult Swim, home of its second and third seasons. New episodes of Tuca & Bertie season 3 will also be available to stream on HBO Max the day after they premiere.

Season 3 of Tuca & Bertie will continue to follow its titular thirtysomethings as they go through the ups and downs of life and their friendship. As Tuca & Bertie season 2 ended with a flood washing over Birdtown, which caused half the town to be destroyed, including Bertie’s partner, Speckles’ new house, season 3 will pick up where it left off, following Tuca, Bertie, and Speckles’ shenanigans post-moss infestation. Bertie’s new business venture as a baker will be featured, and the Tuca & Bertie season 3 trailer also showed Tuca seemingly in a new relationship with a live tree. While Tuca & Bertie season 2 saw Speckles focused on his new home’s refurbishment, his attention will now likely be focused on putting it back together.

While Tuca and Bertie have always been the heart of the show, season 3 will likely feature many of the show’s recurring characters, including Bertie’s mother and father and writer Patricia Ramsey. Like with Tuca & Bertie season 2’s darker themes, season 3 will likely follow through, as the show never shied away from delivering powerful stories about sexual harassment or anxiety, thanks to the attentive storytelling and the performances of its cast. Here’s the main cast of Tuca & Bertie season 3, its returning characters and cameos, and what the voice actors look like.

Tiffany Haddish As Tuca

Tiffany Haddish returns to voice Tuca & Bertie protagonist Tuca the Toucan, whose daring life often leads her and her friend Bertie on outlandish adventures. Despite Tuca’s outgoing and confident attitude, previous seasons already explored her insecurities about what her life might lead to and if the people in it will abandon her. Tuca & Bertie season 3 will probably explore more of Tuca’s difficult relationship with Aunt Tallulah and her alcoholism.

While her most recent success is Apple TV’s The Afterparty, Tiffany Haddish is an expert voice actor. The comedian most recently voiced Aisha in Solar Opposites, and Ms. Hill in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, and her past animation credits include The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Legends of Chamberlain Heights. She also appeared on screen recently in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and The Carmichael Show.

Ali Wong As Bertie

Ali Wong also returns in Tuca & Bertie season 3, again voicing the character Bertie the Song Thrush. This time her work life will take center stage after starting her baking business in season 2. Bertie’s storylines were often the darkest in the past, as she often dealt with anxiety. Considering how her path to come to terms with the sexual violence she survived was also a big storyline in the somewhat changed second season, Tuca & Bertie season 3 will likely continue to explore her recovery.

A renowned comedian, Ali Wong is known for her stand-up career, but she has voiced many characters through the years, including Ali in Big Mouth and Becca Lee in the Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources. On the big screen, Wong’s voice acting credits include Disney’s Onward and Ralph Breaks The Internet. In live-action, Wong starred in Always Be My Maybe as Sasha and in Birds of Prey as Ellen Yee.

Steven Yeun as Speckles

Steven Yeun stars as Speckles in Tuca & Bertie season 3, returning to voice the American robin who is a successful architect and dating Bertie. Tuca & Bertie season 2 saw Speckles refurbishing his new house and being deeply indecisive as a result of all the choices involved in it. As Tuca & Bertie season 2’s finale saw the flood destroying his house, Speckles will probably be busy rebuilding it.

Besides The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun has appeared in many films and TV shows, including 2017’s Okja and the Award-winning 2020 drama Minari. Yeun also boasts a prolific career in voice acting, as he performed Little Cato in Final Space, Steve in Wizards, and multiple other animated roles. This year will see Yeun star on screen in Jordan Peele’s horror Nope, alongside Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer.
