Super Meta Everything Everywhere Easter Egg Uncovered In TikTok Video

A brand new meta Easter egg has been revealed by an eagle-eyed fan of Everything Everywhere All At Once. The film is the sophomore feature from directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as Daniels. It follows Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant whose challenging day involving her strained relationship with her daughter and a tax audit becomes a kaleidoscopic action adventure when she is given the power to harness the abilities and skills of every version of herself across the multiverse in order to combat a powerful existential threat.

Everything Everywhere All At Once was a substantial success, both critically and commercially. In addition to earning a 95% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it also received an audience score of 89%. It also fared well at the box office, taking in a total worldwide gross of $94 million off a budget of $25 million, becoming the highest-grossing A24 film ever.

Recently, TikTok user Hunter Clark, who operates under the username hiddenmoviedetails (via Scott Derrickson), posted a video sharing a sneaky Easter egg from Everything Everywhere All At Once. The video details a scene in which Evelyn’s face is flashed through dozens of different universes in a split second, revealing that one of the many universes is our own, showing Yeoh’s face in a Zoom window being edited by the team behind the film. The video was reposted on Twitter by, of all people, Doctor Strange director Derrickson, who introduced MCU fans to the character that has since gone on to have several multiversal adventures of his own in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The implication this scene makes is that one of the many universes Evelyn is involved in is indeed the one where Yeoh is playing her onscreen. While it was certainly only included as an Easter egg to commemorate the strange pandemic-era production process the film required, it fits perfectly within the wacky canon of the multiverse that the film established. In an infinite multiverse, there is no limit to Evelyn’s potential, and that includes at some level being aware that she herself exists inside a film.

This reveal is certainly due to the fact that Everything Everywhere All At Once is now on VOD and home video. Fans have been given the ability to comb through the movie in this kind of minute detail and it seems very likely that there are plenty more hidden Easter eggs that are just waiting to be discovered. Whether they have the same universe-shaking implications as this one remains to be seen, but they are certain to be fun nevertheless.
