American business magnate Bill Gates is widely known as the co-founder of the software company Microsoft and the charitable organization Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

He and his then-wife Melinda French Gates created the charity through which they have given significant donations to various scientific research programs, including those focused on the Coronavirus pandemic.

Unfortunately, Bill was recently diagnosed with COVID-19, and he took to Twitter to update the world about his condition while also expressing his anticipation to see the Gates Foundation’s team.

In his words, “I’ve tested positive for COVID. I’m experiencing mild symptoms and am following the experts’ advice by isolating until I’m healthy again.”

He added, “I’m fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care.”

Bill went on to reveal that his noteworthy charitable foundation would be gathering for the first time in two years, and he felt lucky to be part of the team and appreciate their efforts.

He ended his message with a promise to keep on collaborating with associates on COVID-related projects that will guarantee the eradication of the lethal virus.

In the investor’s words, “We will continue working with partners and do all we can to ensure none of us have to deal with pandemic again.”

Bill’s positive COVID test comes after a candid revelation regarding his separation from his ex-wife, which was admittedly not an easy deed.

The Microsoft Co-Founder Sheds Light On Divorce From Ex-Wife

Earlier this month, The Blast detailed the philanthropist’s genuine conversation with UK’s Sunday Times, where he opened up about his failed marriage to Melinda.

He explained that like every union that transitions as kids move out of the picture, changes are experienced. However, in the case of his marriage to Melinda, theirs was a divorce.

Prior to the statement, Bill released a blog post about his separation, openly detailing the ordeal he went through with the transition.

He stated, “I can’t deny that it’s been a year of great personal sadness for me. Adapting to change is never easy, no matter what it is. I’ve been impressed by how resilient my loved ones—especially my kids—have been in this challenging time.”

Even with the difficulty of the divorce, the software developer admitted that he believed he had a great marriage and would not have changed anything or married anyone else.

He also confessed that he would marry Melinda again even though he had no plans to get hitched a second time in the future.

Speaking of marriage, his second daughter Jennifer Gates got married last year, and he and his former spouse were in attendance.

The former couple share three children; 26-year-old Jennifer, 22-year-old Rory, and 19-year-old Phoebe.

Their nearly three-decade marriage ended last May, during which they released a statement confirming their divorce and asking for privacy as they went separate paths in life.

Melinda Described Their Divorce As ‘Painful’

Despite their separation, Bill and Melinda continued working together at their foundation as they shared similar beliefs in the mission.

Their divorce was concluded in August 2021, and nearly a year later, the former computer scientist broke her silence about the end of her marriage to the billionaire.

Melinda had an emotional chat with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, where she recalled the distressing journey and events that led to the shocking divorce.

The Duke University alum reportedly cried buckets for days after splitting from the love of her life; however, her sadness turned to anger, which she believed was part of the “grieving process.”

She also admitted to being heartbroken over losing something she once had and thought would belong to her for a long while.

Regardless, Melinda was prepared to embrace the next phase of her life, including her healing journey and having new experiences.

She elaborated, “I mean, this is painful stuff, and at the end of the day, though, I started this journey of healing, and I feel like I’m starting to get to the other side. And I do feel like I’m turning a page in the chapter now.”

As for the reason behind the pair’s divorce, there was reportedly no specific explanation, according to the 57-year-old, but there came a moment she realized that their relationship was not healthy, hence the breakup.
