Bo-Katan Actor On Possible Star Wars Reunion With Sabine In Ahsoka
Bo-Katan Kryze actress Katee Sackhoff wants to reunite and team up with Sabine Wren in Ahsoka. A part of the Star Wars universe’s expansion through Disney+, Ahsoka is the upcoming Rosario Dawson-led series. The show will also see the live-action debut of some of the surviving members of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels, including its Mandalorian member Sabine.
The Mandalorian season 2 marked Bo-Katan’s jump from the animated pocket of Star Wars to live-action. After her stint teaming up with Din Djarin in rescuing Grogu from Moff Gideon, the pair is forced into a rivalry for the Darksaber which the Mandalorian fairly won from the Imperial faithful. That will play into the story for The Mandalorian season 3, where Bo-Katan is confirmed to play a pivotal role. Beyond that, however, Sackhoff hopes that she can reprise her role in the Ahsoka series as well. Written by Dave Filoni, the spin-off show will follow Ahsoka Tano as she continues to hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn and the missing Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger.
Speaking with ComicBook during the recently-concluded Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, Sackhoff says she wants to reunite with Sabine. The actress also says that it would be a massive missed opportunity if this doesn’t happen in live-action considering that both characters are still alive in the same time setting. In the end, however, she points out that audiences shouldn’t get too excited yet, reminding fans that she isn’t in charge of making such decisions. Read her full quote below:
“Well, I would think that Sabine would want to know what happened but I also think that it would be a wasted opportunity if we don’t see Bo-Katan in that world but that’s just me. That’s above my paygrade!”
Sabine will be played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo in Ahsoka. While the show has already debuted its first footage during Star Wars Celebration, Disney has yet to confirm a release date. For context, it was Sabine who handed the Darksaber to Bo-Katan in Star Wars Rebels. At that point, she was convinced that she is the best person to unite and lead Mandalore. However, the passing of the black lightsaber goes against the rules that it needs to be won in a battle — like how Din did against Moff Gideon. It’s the reason why she refused to take it from Din despite him offering it to her. This backstory actually makes Sabine an important player in the potential fight for the Darksaber.
While Sackhoff is hoping to reunite with Sabine in Ahsoka, their reunion may even come earlier than that. The Mandalorian season 3 is already set for a February 2023 release date, which means that it will be Star Wars’ first Disney+ project for the year. Considering how the Jon Favreau-created series tends to bring in guest stars, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that it is where live-action Sabine appears first. After all, she, too, is a Mandalorian. It would be a great way to connect the shows with each other.
