Nokia's rumoured midrange ‘Quicksilver’ appears on Geekbench, might sport Snapdragon 480 5G SoC

Phones News || Phones News:

once the stalwart of Google’s refreshed Android One program, HMD Global was right at the front of the software update race, updating their phones rapidly to the latest version of Android. However, while it has lost that crown to Samsung (which is ahead of schedule and rolling Android 11 to its budget M31 phones) HMD Global appears to be working on another Android One device, according to reports.

The new device, which recently showed up on Geekbench, appears to sport Qualcomm’s lower-end Snapdragon 480 5G SoC, according to a report by Gizmochina. This suggests the device, which has been codenamed “Nokia Quicksilver” might end up being one of HMD Global’s mid-range offerings for this year, based on the 1.8GHz octa-core processor entry on the benchmark.

The listing suggests that the device might ship with Android 11 out of the box, which is always a good sign, as does the entry under the ‘Memory’ section which shows it will have 6GB RAM. However, details of the device’s screen size and display resolution are still unavailable. The Geekbench listing indicates that the device has racked up a single-core score of 466, while the multi-core score is 1487.

The Finnish tech company is also rumoured to be working on the successor to its Nokia 1.3 smartphone, which is expected to ship with a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, but expandable to 128GB with a microSD card. The device will also likely have a 4,000 mAh battery, with a dual-camera setup - 8MP sensor and 2MP secondary sensor at the back and a 5MP sensor at the front.
