Shooting at ex-Man City star’s home as armed police and helicopter hunt gunman
A gunman fired shots at former Manchester City star Fitzroy Simpson's home in Swindon – sparking a police manhunt after his front door was damaged.
Armed police were called to a detached home in Stratton, Swindon, Wiltshire, just after 8pm on Tuesday evening (December 13). Police also deployed a helicopter and a dog unit in an attempt to locate the suspect – but he was not found.
Simpson's address, garden, and a large green space behind his property were all cornered off as detectives worked at the scene. Dog units were also deployed on Wednesday (14 December) to comb through the local area for a weapon, but nothing was found.

Photographs show the damage to the football agent's property, including damage to his front door. A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to an address in Stratton shortly after 8.15pm yesterday evening (13/12) following reports of what was believed to be a firearm being discharged in the area.
"Firearms officers attended and extensive area searches and house to house enquiries were conducted. Enquiries remain ongoing. No firearms were located.
"Anyone with information is urged to call 101 and quote log number 279 of December 13."
Simpson spent three years in the blue half of Manchester between 1992 and 1995. He had previously turned out for Swindon before his move up north – but following spells at teams including Portsmouth he has since relocated back to Wiltshire, near Swindon.
The 52-year-old also played football internationally for Jamaica, earning 43 caps and famously playing all three games in the group stage of the 1998 World Cup for the 'Reggae Boyz'.
