For those of you who have only watched the modern iteration of Soccer AM, it's come a long, long way.
The show has been running since 1995, and it's fair to say societal standards have changed a bit since then. Today's version is still centred around the kind of football lad culture that turned the programme into of the hottest things on Saturday morning TV, but the salaciousness and misogynistic banter are long gone.
Fans of a certain age might remember they used to do a segment called 'Soccerette', where a young female fan would come out on stage essentially for everyone in the studio to lust over.

Don't get us wrong, it was all in good fun. Attitudes were different back then. But the old clips make for mind-boggling viewing.
In one such clip, from 2006 that recently re-emerged on social media, former host Tim Lovejoy is speaking to Chelsea supporter April and simply won't stop making jokes about her boobs.
"I'd like to welcome both of you to the show, sorry, I'd like to welcome you to the show," he begins, prompting howls of laughter from the studio audience, before spending the next few minutes shoehorning sexual innuendo after sexual innuendo into the interview.

At one point, Lovejoy asks April to put him in a headlock so he can rest his face on her chest. She duly obliges, much to the delight of Lovejoy's colleagues. Check out the full clip in all its glory here.
"I can't believe they used to get away with this stuff," one fan wrote on TikTok.
Neither can we, though in truth there's probably a million things we deem normal in 2022 that will be unacceptable in a decade's time. So probably best to let bygones be bygones. Because after all, we all loved it, didn't we?
