James Maddison has updated England fans on his fitness after he was forced off just 25 minutes into Leicester's clash with West Ham on Saturday.

Maddison opened the scoring for Leicester, but there was cause for concern when he went down clutching his hamstring. However, Maddison will be in Qatar after he updated his fans that it was just soreness on Saturday evening.

He tweeted: "Another win & another goal. Perfect way to finish before the break Injury isn’t too bad! A small problem that was causing a bit of soreness. Can’t wait to meet up with the lads Monday!"

Maddison was called up to the England squad for the first time since 2019 on Thursday.

The Leicester man's international career has been limited to a small cameo against Montenegro in a Euro 2020 qualifier. But his form at club level has been impossible for Gareth Southgate to ignore, and he found the net again against the Hammers.

"It hasn’t sunk in… I'm going to The World Cup," Maddison posted on social media after the news he was going to Qatar. "Dreams really do come true," he added, while posting a photo of him as a youngster fully kitted out in England colours.
