More than nine in ten blind and partially sighted adults in Britain are finding it difficult to reduce their energy bills.

A poll of 1,000 adults in the UK, who are blind or have other sight issues, also found 44% say their condition requires additional energy use – and are worried about how they will afford the extra cost.

As a result, almost half (48%) feel they have been left behind during the cost-of-living crisis, and two-thirds (67%) think more should be done to provide support for their community.

To help those living with sight loss, an accessible in-home display (AIHD), which connects to a home’s smart meter, has been developed with support from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

This differs from the standard in-home display as it has additional accessibility features, such as tactile buttons and text-to-speech functionality.
