Eduardo Camavinga has been subjected to vile racist abuse after inadvertently causing the knee injury of Christopher Nkunku that will keep him out of the World Cup.

French outlet L’Équipe report that the Real Madrid ace was targeted on social media after a video surfaced of him being involved in the incident that has led to Nkunku missing the World Cup.

The RB Leipzig star was ruled out of the France squad for the tournament in Qatar with a knee injury, missing the side’s travel to the country today.

Another said: “Baffles me that Camavinga is taking so much crap for this tackle. You can clearly see that Nkunku jars his leg in the ground. It’s not even that leg which Camavinga comes into contact with. Also, it’s a contact sport.”

A third wrote: “Nkunku getting injured in the week when the World Cup starts is more than sad. Man‘s in the form of his life and could have fully broken through with a statement World Cup performance now….gutted for him ffs.”

It comes two days after France boss Didier Deschamps called up Marcus Thuram as the 26th and final player to the side.

The Borussia Moenchengladbach forward is the son of former France defender Lilian Thuram, the defender, considered one of the best right-backs ever, who played alongside Deschamps in the side which won the 1998 World Cup.

PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe is also injured and so has been replaced by Monaco's uncapped defender Axel Disasi.
