England's WAGs have been offered an alternative hotel for the World Cup 4,000 miles away from Qatar to avoid "distracting" the players.

The wives and girlfriends of the Three Lions players are set to spend the tournament on board a £1billion cruise ship docked off the coast of Doha. However, On the Beach have now reserved 26 hotel rooms for the duration of the World Cup to avoid a repeat of the distractions which made headlines in Baden-Baden during the 2006 tournament.

Dubbed a WAGSA (Wives and Girlfriends Stay Away) holiday, the hotel has been chosen for it's luxurious rooms, pools. spas and location.

As well as being located 4,000 miles away from the host nation, the hotel is also just 150 metres from the beach. The name of the hotel has not been revealed in order to protect the WAGs' privacy.

In addition to their own rooms, the players' families have also been offered front row seats to watch all of England's matches in the hotel bar.

On the Beach's chief customer officer Zoe Harris explained: “The opportunity to end 56 years of hurt has arrived and we want nothing more than for Kane and company to bring football home. However, it seems every year there are distractions for the players, none more so than the Baden-Baden drama in 2006.

"This winter, to take one of those distractions out of the equation we’re offering the WAGs a holiday at one of our most luxurious resorts. Flights included, free, and far away from the football, a win for everyone involved!”

The "Covid situation" in Qatar is set to determine whether the England squad will be able to see their loved ones during the tournament, according to Gareth Southgate.

Players from other nations will not have the same luxury, though, with the Danish FA having banned their team's WAGs from attending for political reasons. Meanwhile, the German FA have struggled to find accommodation for their players' family members.

Harris added: “We know how strict the FA are, we know the families will most likely be under lock and key if it’s up to them, and according to some sources, on a boat. We think our offer is much more appealing, sun, sea, spa, sand and no one telling you what you can and can’t do!”
