Roy Keane has slammed England for their poor performance against the USA – joking they were playing darts on Thursday evening.

England and the US were involved in a bore draw that has left Group B wide open heading into the final matchday. The Three Lions has lost their roar as they managed two shots on target across the 90 minutes – leaving their WAGs yawning.

And Keane held no prisoners on ITV, saying: "We’ll be here all night making excuses. It’s for lots of teams, you’re a professional footballer, and you travel all over Europe playing different conditions, they were playing darts last night."

The comment left Ian Wright – who was appearing beside Keane on ITV in stitches. Wright had been with the England team playing darts as they aimed to relax ahead of the clash.

Keane continued: "Before the game, they were a great bunch of players making excuses, they didn’t show their quality simple as that. We’re not here to crucify the players, they could’ve done better.

"Ian relax a second, they move on to the next game, and they’ll be fine, they need to do better tonight wasn’t good enough."
