Andre Onana quits Cameroon squad – and fans ‘astonished’ after seeing evidence why

Cameroon shot-stopper Andre Onana has left the World Cup after he was dropped for the Indomitable Lions' 3-3 thriller with Serbia on Monday (28 November) morning.

Onana started Cameroon's first game of the World Cup, but Rigobert Song dropped him due to their different views on football. Song insisted he wants a more traditional keeper – according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Inter Milan man had 26 touches outside of the box against Switzerland, including one moment where Onana had the ball in midfield – ahead of his defence. However, fans are astonished that Onana has now left Qatar.

One fan tweeted: "The lack of professionalism is astonishing, just listen to your coach lol!"

"Why select him if you're gonna end up telling him to change the entire way he plays," a second questioned. While a third tweeted: "Most bizarre World Cup situation in a long time, so incredibly weird to have your keeper change his ways over the weekend!"

And a fourth added: "Good they've dropped him with this nonsense," after seeing a picture of Onana with the ball in midfield.

Cameroon played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Serbia – having found themselves behind a half-time.

The Indomitable Lions were on the ropes as Serbia hit a quick-fire double in added time at the end of the first half. Serbia then turned on the style to hit a third – seemingly wrapping up the three points in the process.

However, Cameroon were able to claw their way back into the game with two goals in three minutes just past the hour mark.
