Jadon Sancho has been left out of Manchester United's squad for their warm weather training camp.

The Red Devils have jetted off to Spain where they will play two friendlies against La Liga sides Cadiz and Real Betis ahead of the Premier League season resuming later this month following the conclusion of the World Cup.

A number of youngsters have travelled with the first-team stars who haven't been with their country in Qatar – but Sancho, who missed out on Gareth Southgate's England squad, wasn't on board the flight which left Manchester Airport on Saturday (December 3).

A release on the club website explained: "Jadon Sancho is continuing his individual training programme as part of a process to get back to his highest level. The club is fully supporting him in this."

Sancho was recently spotted training with Dutch amateur club OJC Rosmalen. According to the Manchester Evening News, he went to the Netherlands to work with coaches recommended by native Ten Hag.

The 22-year-old has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season but missed the final six games before the World Cup break, with illness keeping him sidelined.

He faces a tough task to regain his place in the team on the left wing with Marcus Rashford rediscovering his form and youngster Alejandro Garnacho impressing.

Speaking about Sancho earlier in the season, Ten Hag said: "He's doing well, but I think there's much more room for improvement for him because he has so many skills."

David de Gea and Donny van de Beek, who were omitted from the Spain and Netherlands squads respectively, have travelled to Spain, as has Anthony Martial. The majority of the squad is made up of last season's FA Youth Cup winners.
